Malaysia bus companies & terminals 2026

Kuala Lumpur has a large main bus terminal, TBS, but many departures leave from elsewhere: KL Sentral, a shopping mall, a hotel. Here is where each company leaves from in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca, Johor Bahru, Langkawi and Kuching, as listed on 12Go in October 2026.

TBS is the hub — but not for every bus

In our sample of 23 routes, most long-distance coaches from Kuala Lumpur were listed from TBS Kuala Lumpur (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan). But a good number of departures were listed elsewhere, and many operators simply show "Kuala Lumpur" without naming a terminal.

So the right reflex is simple: read the departure point written on your ticket, check it on a map the day before, and allow time to get there. The names below are the ones used on 12Go for departures on 24 October 2026.

Companies and terminals: your questions

What is TBS in Kuala Lumpur?
TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) is the main long-distance bus terminal of Kuala Lumpur. In our sample, it was the departure point for most coaches to Singapore, Penang, Ipoh, Cameron Highlands and Hat Yai.
Do all buses to Singapore leave from TBS?
No. Billion Stars, Qistna and Eltabina were listed from TBS, but StarMart leaves from Berjaya Times Square, and some operators only show "Kuala Lumpur". Check the departure point on your ticket.
Where do buses leave from in Penang?
The coaches to Cameron Highlands leave from Terminal Bus Sungai Nibong. Most vans to Hat Yai leave from the Komtar / Prangin Mall area in George Town, and one operator from Jalan Pantai in Butterworth.
Where do boats to Koh Lipe leave from in Langkawi?
From Kuah Jetty or Telaga Harbour Marina, depending on the company. On 24 October 2026, 12Go listed 14 boats, from €32.76.
